Basketball Recap: Mason Ellison's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Loyola Blakefield over St. Frances Academy

Loyola Blakefield lost against St. Frances Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Loyola Blakefield Dons took an 80-62 bruising from the St. Frances Academy Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Panthers are ranked third).

Several Dons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Ellison, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Terry Brooks, who put up 16 points.

Loyola Blakefield's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-9. As for St. Frances Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.

Loyola Blakefield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 86-69 win against John Carroll on the 15th. St. Frances Academy has also already played their next contest, an 86-65 victory against Gilman on the 15th.
