Baseball Recap: Atwater Has No Trouble Against Golden Valley

Atwater won the last time they faced Golden Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Falcons put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 15-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Julian Madriz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Madriz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Atwater got a big performance out of Vincent Valladao, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Valladao posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mathias Cole, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Atwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Atwater has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Golden Valley, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Atwater beat the Cougars by a score of 5-1 on Friday.
