Basketball Recap: Clarendon Hall Takes a Loss

Clarendon Hall lost against Thomas Sumter Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Clarendon Hall Saints took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals. The matchup marked the Saints' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Thomas Sumter Academy found their leader in sophomore Malayia English, who posted 22 points in addition to five boards and four steals. English is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. Natalie Saphore was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Clarendon Hall and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Clarendon Hall didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-32 victory against Holly Hill Academy on the 27th. Thomas Sumter Academy has also already played their next contest, a 42-24 win against Calhoun Academy on the 28th.
