Velma-Alma had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Empire Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Comets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Velma-Alma pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
