Volleyball Recap: Seaside Comes Up Short

Seaside lost against Gilroy back in October of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Spartans fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Seaside sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 20-25, 15-12.

Kaihea Vi paced Seaside's offense, picking up five kills. Vi got some help from Sophia Villanueva and her 12 assists. Maryjane Le controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Seaside has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Gilroy, with the victory, they broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Seaside will venture away from home to take on Rancho San Juan at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gilroy, they will face off against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
