Fall River took a 26-point loss the last time they faced off against Portola, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 victory over the Tigers on Friday. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 26-0 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.

Leading Fall River to victory were Abraham Estes and Raul Iniguez. Estes rushed for 223 yards and one score while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, while Iniguez rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Estes was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.

Fall River has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 29.0 points this season. As for Portola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Fall River will challenge Ferndale at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Portola, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Modoc at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
