Softball Recap: Hinckley-Finlayson Gets the Win

Hinckley-Finlayson came out on top against Pine City on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Jaguars walked away with a 13-9 win over the Dragons. That's more bragging rights for the Jaguars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hinckley-Finlayson got a massive performance out of Autumn Painovich, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Riley Scott was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hinckley-Finlayson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Hinckley-Finlayson back to even at 4-4. As for Pine City, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Hinckley-Finlayson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-0 defeat against Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin on the 2nd. As for Pine City, they will head out on the road to face off against Crosby-Ironton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.8 runs per game on average), something the Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
