Football Recap: Braxton Baldwin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Simpson Academy over Brookhaven Academy

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Friday. Simpson Academy fell 38-34 to Brookhaven Academy. Simpson Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brookhaven Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Simpson Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braxton Baldwin, who rushed for 29 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 185 yards and one TD. Simpson Academy also got help from Kolt Walker, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.

Simpson Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Brookhaven Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Simpson Academy will square off against rival Parklane Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Brookhaven Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
