Softball Game Preview: Waldwick Warriors vs. Bergenfield Bears

The Waldwick Warriors will take on the Bergenfield Bears on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Waldwick has eight straight wins, Bergenfield has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Waldwick is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Wood-Ridge on Thursday as they made off with an 18-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Bergenfield didn't have quite enough to beat Academy of the Holy A on Wednesday and fell 10-8. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly two runs.

Waldwick pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Bergenfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Waldwick was able to grind out a solid win over Bergenfield when the teams last played back in May of 2017, winning 9-6. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
