Recap: Eastern Tech Mavericks vs. Owings Mills Golden Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to The Eastern Tech Mavericks, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were dealt a 45-0 defeat at the hands of Owings Mills on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eastern Tech in their matchups with Owings Mills: they've now lost four in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Nevaeh Elliott, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Bland, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Eastern Tech's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 New Town and 6-2 Hereford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.5% over those games). As for Owings Mills, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Eastern Tech will head out on the road to face off against Parkville at 11:00 a.m. on October 28th. Parkville will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Owings Mills, they will be playing at home against Hereford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hereford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
