Basketball Recap: San Mateo Skates Past Capuchino with Ease

The third road matchup was the charm for San Mateo, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past the Capuchino Mustangs, posting a 72-37 victory. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Mustangs are ranked 893rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Mateo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zidane Auzarang, who went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. The contest was Auzarang's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Bryan Ehlerman was another key player, going 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points.

San Mateo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Capuchino, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

San Mateo has already played their next matchup, a 57-46 victory against Washington on the 20th. As for Capuchino, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-56 win against Harker on the 18th.
