Basketball Recap: Scotts Valley Comes Up Short

If Scotts Valley was riding high fresh off their 79-48 takedown of Harbor last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Scotts Valley Falcons fell 61-48 to the Santa Cruz Cardinals on Tuesday. The Falcons lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 88-51 score last time.

It was another big night for Demarco Hunter, who posted 19 points for Santa Cruz. L.J Legan was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Scotts Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Santa Cruz, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Scotts Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-38 win against San Lorenzo Valley on the 23rd. Santa Cruz has also already played their next game, a 50-46 defeat against Aptos on the 23rd.
