Softball Recap: Oak Creek Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Franklin

Oak Creek faced Franklin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Knights fell 6-1 to the Sabers. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Oak Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Bray, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Claire Mank also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The loss snapped Oak Creek's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record. As for Franklin, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Coming up, Oak Creek will be playing at home against Wisconsin Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Knights have won six straight at home, while the Vikings won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Franklin, they will head out to take on South Milwaukee at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Sabers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
