Baseball Recap: Hughson Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hughson came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Ripon Christian Knights. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Benji Ocegueda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Andrew Fisher and Bryce McDaniel did most of the damage at the plate: Fisher scored two runs, while McDaniel scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits McDaniel has posted since back in February.

Hughson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Hughson's record now sits at 10-2. As for Ripon Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Hughson is taking a road trip to face off against Linden at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hughson 2.6, Linden 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Ripon Christian, they will head out to challenge Weston Ranch at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last four games Weston Ranch has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
