Baseball Recap: Colorado Springs Christian Takes a Loss

Colorado Springs Christian extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-9 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Peyton Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Colorado Springs Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Velasquez, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Peyton, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Peyton's side, the team relied heavily on Zayden Ebbert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Colton Cobb also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colorado Springs Christian will venture away from home to face off against SkyView Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Peyton, they will head out to square off against La Veta at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
