Basketball Game Preview: Simmons Blue Devils vs. West Tallahatchie Choctaws

Simmons is 10-0 against West Tallahatchie since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Simmons Blue Devils will jump right back in to play the West Tallahatchie Choctaws at 7:00 p.m. Simmons is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Simmons is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Leland: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Simmons blew Leland out of the water with a 71-25 final score. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Akiah Prince continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 14 for 22 on her way to 30 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Vontasia Rush, who posted ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, West Tallahatchie unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to Simmons. While the Choctaws didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 16-9 in the first quarter.

Simmons pushed their record up to 24-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.1 points per game. As for West Tallahatchie, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

Simmons won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played on Friday, slipping by West Tallahatchie 51-50. Will Simmons repeat their success, or does West Tallahatchie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
