Soccer Game Preview: Denham Springs vs. Liberty Magnet

The Denham Springs Yellowjackets will challenge the Liberty Magnet Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Denham Springs has four straight victories, Liberty Magnet has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Denham Springs' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Pope John Paul II with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won four games by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Liberty Magnet's game on Saturday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Baton Rouge. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly two goals.

Their goal came courtesy of Jamie Nunez, who's now up to six this season.

Liberty Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Denham Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Denham Springs took their win against Liberty Magnet in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 9-1. In that contest, Denham Springs amassed a halftime lead of 6-1, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
