Volleyball Recap: Hiawatha Takes a Loss

The Hiawatha Hawks didn't have quite enough to beat the Trinity Oaks Christian Academy Huskies on Tuesday and fell 2-1. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Huskies 25-21 in the first set.

Hiawatha started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-17, 25-15.

Delaney Wood paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up 11 kills. Wood got some help from Mallory Banks and her 19 assists. Wood was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Hiawatha has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Trinity Oaks Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Coming up, Hiawatha will be playing at home against South Beloit at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trinity Oaks Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Maine East on the 1st.
