Baseball Game Preview: Octorara Area Braves vs. Donegal Indians

Octorara Area is 1-9 against Donegal since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Braves will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 4:15 p.m.

On Thursday, Octorara Area came up short against Kennard-Dale and fell 6-3. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Octorara Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Marsh, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. The Braves are 2-1 when Marsh posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Donegal earned a 9-5 win over Eastern Lebanon County on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Sawyer Floyd, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaun DiBello, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Donegal hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Donegal's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for Octorara Area, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Octorara Area has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Donegal struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
