Softball Recap: Carrick Falls to Penn Hills in First Game of Season

Carrick had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 10-6 to the Penn Hills Indians. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Aubrey Czapko was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Czapko was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Morgan Wyland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Rose, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Carrick will challenge Obama Academy of International Studies at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Carrick's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Penn Hills, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ambridge at 4:00 p.m.
