Recap: Newtown Nighthawks vs. Weston Trojans

The Newtown Nighthawks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Weston 42-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Newtown, who have now won four contests by 23 points or more so far this season.

Newtown can attribute much of their success to Jayden Cordova, who threw for 169 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. J.j. Haddick was another key contributor, gaining 62 total yards and two touchdowns.

Newtown's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.9 points per game. As for Weston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newtown will take on West Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (West Haven is ranked third, while Newtown is ranked tenth). As for Weston, they will be playing at home against New Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Fairfield comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
