Baseball Recap: Clovis Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Clovis had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 14-14 to make it four. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Central East Bengals. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Peyton Barsotti was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Clovis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 10-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Deep Chohan, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Clovis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

As for Central East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured nine losses in a row.

On Central East's side, Marcelo Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Rodriguez has hit this season. Adam Guerra was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Clovis will have a chance to go back-to-back against Central East: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
