Basketball Recap: Oregon Falls to Elkhorn in First Game of Season

Oregon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 65-51 fall against the Elkhorn Elks on Tuesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Elks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Niasia Niedziejko, who shot 71% from the field on her way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Celia Mitchell, who went 5-for-12 en route to 14 points.

Elkhorn has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Oregon is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Stoughton at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Elkhorn, they will challenge Waukesha West at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
