Volleyball Recap: Ellis RVT Starts Season with Win Against Cheney Tech

Ellis RVT had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cheney Tech Chargers 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.

Ellis RVT was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 16-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-8.

When it comes to explaining why Cheney Tech lost, don't look at Andrea Santiago-Rivera. Despite the final result, she had five digs and four aces.

Cheney Tech dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Cheney Tech will head out to face off against Academy of Aerospace and Engineering at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Ellis RVT will be paying especially close attention to the Chargers' game: after the Chargers face off against Goodwin Tech, they'll take on Ellis RVT again at 5:15 p.m. on October 10.
