Baseball Recap: Putnam Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Haldane

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Putnam Valley). They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Haldane Blue Devils on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Nicky Benedetto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nick Mazzola was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Jay Constantino was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Putnam Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Putnam Valley's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Haldane, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Putnam Valley will face off against Yorktown at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Haldane, they will challenge Dover at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
