Baseball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage had lost 18 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 19. They lost 13-1 to the Liberty Christian Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in April.

As for Liberty Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3. Considering they have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Liberty Christian's part, Josh Hall made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hall has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Torres, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Austin Rosser, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will challenge King's Fork at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty Christian, they will square off against Rustburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
