Softball Game Preview: Fertile-Beltrami Falcons vs. Blackduck Drakes

The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Blackduck Drakes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Fertile-Beltrami is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Bagley, falling 13-5.

Britta Sorenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and nine unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Fertile-Beltrami saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carley Sip, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Blackduck didn't have quite enough to beat Hill City/Northland on Thursday and fell 5-3. The contest marked the Drakes' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Fertile-Beltrami's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Blackduck, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Fertile-Beltrami couldn't quite get it done against Blackduck in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
