Basketball Recap: Erie Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Erie had won six straight home games and Juliet Slater did her part to make it seven on Thursday. The Erie Tigers blew past the Brighton Bulldogs 65-28 thanks to Slater, who went 8-for-16 to rack up 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Addison Greenlee, who posted eight points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Brighton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Laila Alexander had 13 points. Haleyanna Martin was another key player, putting up five points.

Erie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 13 offensive boards in those games compared to only 7.31 in the others. Brighton is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.

Coming up, Erie won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Horizon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brighton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
