Softball Game Preview: Lafayette Hornets vs. Union County Fightin' Tigers

The Lafayette Hornets will square off against the Union County Fightin' Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lafayette is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Madison County last Thursday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Union County suffered their closest loss since April 18, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Hilliard by a score of 7-5.

Mackenzie Orton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Courtney Manning, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Lafayette's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
