Volleyball Recap: Los Lunas Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with La Cueva + How To Watch

Los Lunas faced La Cueva in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers came up short against the Bears, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost six in a row.

While Los Lunas was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into La Cueva's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-14, 25-16.

Madison Pruitt paced Los Lunas' offense, picking up four kills. Pruitt got some help from Kori Robinson and her five assists.

La Cueva found their leader in freshman Sofia Flores-Gallegos, who had 13 digs and four aces. Flores-Gallegos is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Jessenia Sedillo was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.

Los Lunas' defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for La Cueva, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Los Lunas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Albuquerque on the 21st. As for La Cueva, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Manzano on the 21st.
