Basketball Game Preview: Smithfield Sentinels vs. East Providence Townies

The Smithfield Sentinels will head out on the road to take on the East Providence Townies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Smithfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Coventry by a score of 44-36.

Meanwhile, East Providence hadn't done well against East Greenwich recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. East Providence managed a 39-33 victory over East Greenwich. Winning may never get old, but the Townies sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

East Providence pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points over those games. As for Smithfield, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Smithfield might still be hurting after the 65-45 loss they got from East Providence in their previous meeting back in January. Can Smithfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
