Basketball Recap: Portage Christian Comes Up Short

Portage Christian played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Calumet Christian Patriots and fell 70-30. The defeat continues a trend for Portage Christian in their matchups with Calumet Christian: they've now lost six in a row.

Michael Clayton had an outrageously good game for Calumet Christian as he almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Clayton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Kpandeyenge, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 14 points and six boards.

Portage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Calumet Christian, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15.

Portage Christian has already played their next matchup, a 73-17 defeat against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech on the 4th. As for Calumet Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 93-65 loss against Calumet New Tech on the 3rd.
