Ocean Springs is 8-2 against D'Iberville since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Ocean Springs will square off against D'Iberville at 6:30 p.m. Ocean Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Ocean Springs will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Biloxi on Tuesday. Ocean Springs put the hurt on Biloxi with a sharp 13-5 win. The Greyhounds haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Kylie Untisz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Ocean Springs let Kerrigan Scott and Laynee Davis run wild. Scott scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Davis went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Scott posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Gracie McDonald was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Ocean Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biloxi only posted an OBP of .345.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for D'Iberville's offense. They fell just short of St. Martin by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Yellow Jackets since on Tuesday.
Emma Franklin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
D'Iberville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. Ocean Springs' win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Both Ocean Springs and D'Iberville just can't seem to miss. Ocean Springs has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like D'Iberville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ocean Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over D'Iberville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ocean Springs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
