Baseball Game Preview: Mead Mavericks vs. Fairview Knights

The Mead Mavericks will face off against the Fairview Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mead will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Mead fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Monarch on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 11-10.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairview). They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 16-4 victory on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Fairview's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Mead, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Mead might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Fairview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Mavericks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
