Basketball Recap: Cayden Meank's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chilton County over Jemison

While it was all tied up 36-36 at halftime, Chilton County was not quite Jemison's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 78-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jemison Panthers. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Chilton County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cayden Meank, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 25 points and five boards. That was a full 35.2% of Chilton County's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarien Floyd, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Chilton County was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Chilton County's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Jemison, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Chilton County will take on Gardendale in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jemison, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Jemison Panthers challenge the Demopolis Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
