Basketball Recap: Chief Leschi's Losing Streak Snapped at 18 Games

Chief Leschi can bid farewell to their 18-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They skirted past the North Beach Hyaks 40-37. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Hyaks on January 3rd, they had to take a 65-44 defeat.

Despite the loss, North Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JJ Eastman dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The match was Eastman's third in a row with at least ten points. Dakota Russell was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Chief Leschi's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-15. As for North Beach, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Ilwaco the next time they take the court. North Beach will head out to face Ilwaco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Chief Leschi will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
