Basketball Recap: Chicago Sullivan Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Chicago Sullivan took on Manley on Friday. The Chicago Sullivan Tigers were outmatched by the Manley Wildcats and fell 46-6. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Wildcats are ranked 270th).

Manley found their leader in sophomore Jaklaya Hunter, who went 13 of 22 on her way to 31 points along with eight boards and seven steals. The contest was Hunter's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja Von Willis, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Chicago Sullivan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Manley, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Chicago Sullivan will take on Steinmetz College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Steinmetz College Prep: 17.9, Chicago Sullivan: 24.7) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Manley, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Senn at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manley's defense has only allowed 19.2 points per game this season, so Senn's offense will have their work cut out for them.
