Baseball Recap: East Troy Starts Season with Victory on the Road

East Troy had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2017.

Kellen Pluess and Seth Lingford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pluess pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Lingford struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Pluess scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Lingford scored a run while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Pluess a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brayden Phillips was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Rongstad, who scored two runs.

Coming up, East Troy will head out on the road to square off against Clinton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. This will be the Trojans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Palmyra-Eagle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitewater at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
