Baseball Recap: Pace's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

There's no place like home for Pace, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Donna North Chiefs on Friday as they made off with a 17-8 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Isaac Solis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has become a key player for Pace: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-14 otherwise. Solis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Santiago Villarreal, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Marcos Saldivar was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Pace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pace's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Donna North, they dropped their record down to 8-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
