Basketball Game Preview: Holcomb Hornets vs. South Pemiscot Bulldogs

The Holcomb Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the South Pemiscot Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Holcomb beat New Madrid County Central 55-51.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Pemiscot). They blew past Charleston 69-42 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs who have now won three contests in a row.

South Pemiscot pushed their record up to 4-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Holcomb, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.

Holcomb came up short against South Pemiscot in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 47-40. Can Holcomb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
