Softball Recap: Talawanda Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Talawanda, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Fairmont Firebirds 5-3. For the Brave, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 victory the Firebirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2015.

Quinn Frieden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kaylee Griffin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Cox, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Talawanda is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Fairmont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-7 record.

Talawanda wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-0 victory against Northwest on the 13th. Fairmont has also already played their next game (against Beavercreek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
