Father McGivney Catholic was the 2-0 winner over Maryville Christian when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Griffins fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Griffins' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Father McGivney Catholic started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-20, 25-15.

Mia Lieberman paced Father McGivney Catholic's offense, picking up 18 kills. Lieberman got some help from Grace Nesbit and her 18 assists. Lieberman also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Grace Welser, each putting up two.

Father McGivney Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10-2. As for Maryville Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7.
