Softball Recap: South Wins Going Away Against West Geauga

The South Rebels made easy work of the West Geauga Wolverines on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.

Halle Zupancic spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Makayla Schneider was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Addy Matriano was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

South has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Geauga, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will head out to face off against Chardon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Geauga, they will square off against Jefferson Area at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
