Baseball Recap: Radford Takes a Loss

James River hit Radford with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bobcats fell 8-4 to the Knights. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 7, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Blake Farmer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Radford's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-11-1 when he doesn't).

Radford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12-1. As for James River, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Radford will square off against Alleghany at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a four-game losing streak. James River will be paying especially close attention to Radford's contest: after Radford faces off against Alleghany, they'll take on James River again at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
