Baseball Game Preview: Key West Conchs vs. Sports Leadership & Management Spartans

For the second straight game, Key West will face off against Sports Leadership & Management. Key West will host Sports Leadership & Management at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Key West fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sports Leadership & Management on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-5. The Conchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Sports Leadership & Management's part, Isaiah Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Morales also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sports Leadership & Management is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-10 otherwise. Morales was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Sports Leadership & Management got a massive performance out of Andrew Bunner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Sports Leadership & Management is 2-1 when Bunner posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Chris Pope was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Sports Leadership & Management kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sports Leadership & Management's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Key West, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
