Softball Recap: Houston Takes a Loss

Houston blew Collierville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Collierville got their revenge. The Mustangs fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Madeleine McClure spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Houston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lindsey Barnes, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Caroline Curtis also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Houston's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Collierville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston will host Covington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Collierville, they will challenge Millington Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
