Baseball Game Preview: Lutheran Mustangs vs. Faith Academy Flames

The Lutheran Mustangs will challenge the Faith Academy Flames at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lutheran is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since February 21st on Tuesday. They fell just short of Central Texas Christian by a score of 13-11.

Lutheran got a massive performance out of Keegan Stinson, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Stinson has become a key player for Lutheran: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jack Fiorenza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Faith Academy won against San Marcos Academy on March 11th with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on March 13th. Faith Academy was the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over San Marcos Academy. The result was nothing new for the Flames, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Faith Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lutheran, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-9.
