Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Morris Panthers vs. Byron Eagles

The Mt. Morris Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Byron Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mt. Morris is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Wednesday. They came up short against Chesaning, falling 20-13. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Mt. Morris saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Carper-Goode, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The Panthers are 2-1 when Carper-Goode posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Antonio Carranra was another, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Byron's offense. They lost 17-0 to Webberville on Friday.

Mt. Morris' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Byron, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything went Mt. Morris' way against Byron in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Mt. Morris made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
