Baseball Preview: Walnut Mustangs vs. Bear River Bruins
The Walnut Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Bear River Bruins at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Walnut is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since March 5th on Tuesday. They skirted past San Marcos 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Bear River sidestepped University Prep for a 2-1 win.
Ryder Eason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bear River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Nicholls, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Seamus McKeown also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Walnut's victory bumped their record up to 7-11-1. As for Bear River, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
