Preview: Council Lumberjacks vs. Horseshoe Bend Mustangs
Council is 10-0 against Horseshoe Bend since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Council Lumberjacks will be playing at home against the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Council suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They suffered a tough 60-35 loss at the hands of Cascade.
Meanwhile, Horseshoe Bend's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Garden Valley 71-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Horseshoe Bend has scored all season.
Layth Bromgard put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Bromgard is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Treyven Bauer, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Council has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Horseshoe Bend, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-6.
Council was able to grind out a solid victory over Horseshoe Bend in their previous matchup last Monday, winning 56-49. Will Council repeat their success, or does Horseshoe Bend have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
